Four distinct seasons
We have four distinct seasons, each with its own charm and character. Most people visit during the summer months, but there are many reasons to go to Norway the rest of the year too.
Norway is on the same latitude as Alaska, Greenland and Siberia, but the climate is surprisingly mild in comparison. How come? It is all thanks to the Gulf Stream, which delivers warm air currents to Norway every day.
Spring blossom
There are several reasons to visit Norway before or after the main summer- and winter seasons. The main tourist attractions are less crowded, and the prices tend to be lower. Spring is the best time to experience the blossoming of the fruit trees and the waterfalls when they are at their most impressive.
Pleasant summers
In the summer, the temperature is often around 25 degrees. In the northern parts you can experience the midnight sun, and it is light almost around the clock in the rest of the country too.

Autumn
In autumn, the weather can be a bit unstable but the landscapes are at their most stunning. It is a great time to experience the golden colours both in the city parks and on hiking trips in the mountains.
Snowy winters
In contrast to the mild summers, Norwegian winters are cold enough for fun snow activities like skiing, skating, dog sledding and snowmobiling, to name a few. It gets very dark during the winter months, although the days are lit up by the snow and the magic display of the northern lights.
