We are inviting Nordic destinations and cities, who work towards international sport- and / or cultural events, to participate in a Nordic meeting focused on bidding and hosting international events. The aim of the meeting is to explore areas of increased collaboration and exchange of experiences on a Nordic level.
Criteria for participation:
- Participants must work towards international events.
- Maximum two participants per destination (destination company, municipality, city entity or similar.)
Tentative program for the Nordic Event Destinations meeting in Oslo, 24th – 25th of January 2024.
Tuesday 23rd of January:
19:00: Optional dinner at restaurant in central Oslo, close to Oslo Central Station.
Wednesday 24th of January:
09:00 – 12:00: Around the Nordics - getting to know each other: who are we, how are we organized, major events in future years, our priorities and challenges. Participating destinations.
12:00 – 13:00: Lunch
14:00 – 15:30: Case studies: Lessons learned from bidding on the Women’s Euro 2025 Championship, planning for Women’s World Handball Championship 2023 and the Nordic Ski World Championships in Trondheim 2025, Falun 2027 and possibly Lahti 2029.
15:30 – 17:00: How to measure impacts of events:
- Economic impact calculations
- OECD / IAEH common KPI’s
- Sustainability
- Evaluation
19:00 – onwards: Dinner and after-ski party at Snø.
Thursday 25th of January:
09:00 – 11:30: How can we collaborate on Nordic level?
- Support each other better?
- Cross-marketing on Nordic target groups
- Joint international activities such as Sport Accord
11:30 – 12:30: Closing session
Lunch and departure.

The meeting is organised in collaboration with Sport Event Management Finland, Visit Stockholm and Göteborg&Co.
Practical information:
Dates: Optional dinner Tuesday 23rd of January, meeting takes place Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th of January.
Meeting location: Thon Hotel Snø, Snølia 20, 1470 Lørenskog
Thon Hotel Snø is located in Lørenskog, between Oslo city centre and Oslo Airport. To plan for public transport to Snø, use Ruter’s travel planner.
Costs: The cost of participation is NOK 2000 ex VAT (NOK 2500 including VAT). The price includes lunch and dinner on Wednesday 24th of January, and lunch Thursday 25th of January.
Optional dinner on Tuesday 23rd is not included in the cost of meeting.
Participants will be invoiced after the meeting.
